*Federal Report: 220,300 Public School Teachers Physically Attacked
by Students:

A record 220,300 public school teachers reported that they were physically attacked by a student during the 2015-2016 school year, according to a report jointly published this month by the National Center for Education Statistics and the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The 220,300 public school teachers who said they were physically attacked by a student in 2015-2016 is up from the 197,400 who said they were attacked by a student in 2011-2012 (which is the last school year before 2015-2016 for which teachers were surveyed on the question).

In 1993-94, the first year that public school teachers were surveyed on the question, 112,400 said they were physically attacked by a student. The 220,300 public school teachers who said they were physically attacked by a student in 2015-16 equaled approximately 5.8 percent of the 3,827,100 public school teachers the NCES estimates there were during that year.

The NCES also estimated that the 197,400 teachers who reported being physically attacked by a student in 2011-12 also equaled 5.8 percent of the total public school teachers working that year. Prior to that, in the years going back to the 1993-94 survey, the highest percentage of public school teachers who reported they had been physically attacked by a student was 4.4 percent in 1993-94.

*Johnny Rotten Wants Cops to Stop Homeless Punks, Says Wife
‘Can’t Cope’:

God save Johnny Rotten! He’s enduring anarchy in sunny California, where homeless punks are vandalizing his home. The former Sex Pistol, punk icon and scourge of the establishment is now appealing to LA cops for help as the unruly young proletariat invade his fancy Venice Beach home. The mouthpiece of 1977’s “Anarchy in the UK” — born John Lydon — was ranting to Newsweek’s Paula Froelich in an interview to promote the Museum of Arts and Design’s new exhibition “Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die: Punk Graphics, 1976-1986.”

He told her the homeless situation in his swanky LA neighborhood is so bad that thieves are tearing the bars from the windows of his multimillion-dollar home, lobbing bricks, setting up unsightly tent cities and littering the beach with syringes. “A couple of weeks ago I had a problem,” the former punk prince opined. “They came over the gate and put their tent inside, right in front of the front door. It’s like. . . the audacity. And if you complain, what are you? Oh, one of the establishment elite? No, I’m a bloke that’s worked hard for his money and I expect to be able to use my own front door.”

The “Never Mind the Bollocks” hell-raiser added that these unwelcome visitors “tried to steal the iron bars off the windows” to sell as scrap metal. And his wife, Nora, who is battling Alzheimer’s, “cannot cope” because of all the vicious vagrants in the city. “My wife’s ill and she can’t cope with this. But at 2 a.m. last week, a brick whizzed through the top floor window, the bedroom. Sorry, Mr. Policeman. I need your help.” He added: “The vagrants moved in en masse . . . [in] tent cities. They’re all young; they’re all like 24.” Rotten added of the punks: “They’re aggressive, and because there’s an awful lot of them together they’re gang-y. And the heroin spikes. . . You can’t take anyone to the beach because there’s jabs just waiting for young kids to put their feet in — and poo all over the sand.”

*1 In 5 Children Suffers From A Mental Health Disorder:

One in five children suffer from a mental disorder — with notable increases in depression and anxiety over the past 30 years — yet less than one-third have had contact with a mental healthcare provider, a new study finds. Results from the 2014 Ontario Child Health Study actually mirror findings from a similar study conducted in 1983, but this latest version shows a higher proportion of children and youth with disorders have had contact with health providers and in other settings, usually via schools.

The new study also found that the patterns of prevalence among different genders and age groups have changed. Specifically, hyperactivity disorders in boys between four and 11 years old spiked from 9% to 16%. Conversely, there was a significant decrease in disruptive behavior in boys 12 to 16 years old, with numbers from 10% to 3%.

*CIA: U.S. Is 12th Fattest
Nation on Earth:

The Central Intelligence Agency has ranked the United States as the 12th fattest nation on earth, concluding that there is a higher percentage of fat people in the U.S. population than in the populations of any of the nations of EuropeAfrica or the Americas. According to the CIA’s World Factbook, 36.2 percent of the U.S. population was “considered to be obese” as of 2016. Ten of the eleven nations that ranked ahead of the United States for the percentage of its population that was obese were islands in the Pacific Ocean.

Kuwait, where 37.9 percent of the population was considered obese, was the only non-island nation that outranked the United States for its percentage of obese people. The South Pacific island nation of Naura ranked No. 1 in the world for obesity, according to the CIA. Sixty-one percent of its population was obese. The CIA World Factbook describes Nauru, which had a 2018 population of only 9,692, as “the world’s smallest independent republic.”

The Cook Islands, also in the South Pacific, ranked No. 2 for obesity. In 2016, according to the CIA, 55.9 percent of Cook Islanders were deemed obese. The Cook Islands have a population of only 9,038.

*‘Doctors Became Overworked Robots’: Physician Burnout Jumps Dramatically In 3-Year Study:

Physicians may be more stressed than ever — one recent survey found that half were thinking about hanging up their stethoscopes for good. New research continues to demonstrate the demise of doctors, with burnout levels jumping dramatically over just a three-year span. According to researchers at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine, physician burnout increased from 45.5% to 54.4% between 2011 and 2014. The researchers say doctors aren’t more depressed or exhausted by their home life, but rather at their jobs.

Drs. Andrew G. Alexander and Kenneth A. Ballou isolated three factors for physician burnout, according to their research: The traditional doctor-patient relationship has been dwarfed by the relationship between health insurance providers and patients, with companies standing in the way of fast and appropriate treatments ordered by physicians. Doctors are feeling more cynical as a whole, because patients don’t expect continuity of care anymore and routinely change doctors. General lack of enthusiasm for their work.

Brett Vance, Host of TV’s Jet Jockeys, Examines the Massive “Stratolaunch”

History was made this month in the Mojave Desert in California. The Stratolaunch took flight for the first time on Saturday, April 13, for two and a half hours over the Mojave. According to the website of late Seahawks owner Paul Allen, the world’s largest aircraft flew for two and a half hours and achieved a maximum speed of 189 miles per hour and an altitude of 17,000 feet.

Big airplanes require big vision, so it isn’t surprising to learn the Stratolaunch was the brainchild of Paul Allen, the billionaire co-founder of MicrosoftLike Richard Branson, he was bullish on launching rockets from planes like the Stratolaunch instead of relying on ground launches.

“I actually got to see this airplane in the hangar last year while it was still being built,” states Brett Vance, host of the new Jet Jockeys TV series, “I was at a course at the National Test Pilot School at the Mojave Air and Space Port and we took an afternoon after flying to get a tour. This aircraft is absolutely immense. Standing in the hangar, you can’t see the whole airplane from any single location. You have to hoof it around the place to get the whole view. We even got a chance to climb up into the cockpit to see that part of the construction.”

*SCARY! – Starbucks is Installing Needle-Disposal Boxes in Locations Across America Following OSHA Penalties and Worker Concerns about Drug Use in Bathrooms:

•    Starbucks has installed needle-disposal boxes in its locations’ bathrooms in at least 25 US markets as the chain works to address workers’ safety concerns in recent months.

•    By summer 2019, the coffee giant plans to have installed sharps boxes in bathrooms in all regions where such action was deemed necessary.

•    The Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigated Starbucks’ safety policies and practices in 2018 after two employees at a store in Eugene, Oregon, were stuck with hypodermic needles within a month of each other, according to documents obtained by Business Insider through a Freedom of Information Actrequest.

•    Starbucks was fined $3,100 as a result of the investigation.

•    Thousands of workers have called for Starbucks to install sharps boxes in its bathrooms as employees report finding blood and needles and being pricked by improperly discarded sharps, risking exposure to HIV and hepatitis.

Starbucks’ efforts to address opioid use and improperly disposed needles in its bathrooms are expanding.  Starbucks stores in at least 25 US markets have installed needle-disposal boxes in bathrooms in recent months. By this summer, the chain aims to have installed sharps boxes in bathrooms in all regions where such action has been deemed necessary.  The coffee giant also allows local district managers or store managers to put in requests to have sharps-disposal boxes installed in their locations’ bathrooms.

“We are always working and listening to our partners on ways we can better support them when it comes to issues like these,” Reggie Borges, a Starbucks representative, said in an email to Business Insider. Starbucks has been testing solutions in recent months as workers’ safety concerns have mounted, with thousands of employees signing a petition calling for Starbucks to place needle-disposal boxes in high-risk bathrooms.

*Texas Lt.-Gov. Says 1,671 Bodies Recovered at SW Border Since 2011:

Dan Patrick, the Republican lieutenant governor of Texas, says President Trump was stunned to learn this week that more than a thousand bodies have been recovered in Texas since 2011, at and near the border with Mexico. “You want to cover a story?” Patrick asked Fox News’s Laura IngrahamThursday night. “This is the story.” Patrick, who accompanied President Trump on his Wednesday visit to Texas, said a person in San Antonio told the president, we need to build the border barrier.

“And one rancher after the other rancher after the next property owner talked about finding dead bodies on their properties — seven last week, three last month,” Patrick said: And I said to the president, Mr. President, we have recovered over 1,000 dead bodies in Texas since 2011 just out in nowhere, in the middle of nowhere. And let me tell you what the exact numbers are. We did the checking today, Laura. 1,671 dead bodies who have been recovered in Texas near or along the border. That’s women, that’s children, that’s old people. These are the most vulnerable people.

And the Democrats say they care about people? These are the most vulnerable people that the drug cartels and the human smugglers have taken across the border, given them a little bit of water and left them to die. And that 1,671, Laura? That’s the skeletal remains that we find. There are thousands and thousands of people. And so he called in the media. And we said, this is the story. You want to cover a story? Go down — I’ll take them through the no-man’s land. And we’ll find some skeletons and we’ll show them the photographs. Thousands of people have died coming to this country. And it really impacted the president.

*New Map Shows It’s Not Safe To Wear New Shoes Anywhere In San Francisco:

For those thinking of visiting San Francisco there is one item that is vital to take along, according to an interactive map of the city: a pair of old boots. The interactive map from the data company Open The Books shows every place in the city where human waste has been reported since 2011, placing brown pins to mark the spots, and the result is a steaming mess: the brown pins virtually cover every spot of the city.

Over the last eight years, 118,352 places with poop have been reported. As Forbes notes: There were 118 city neighborhoods affected. However, 72-percent of all cases since 2008 were reported in just ten neighborhoods: 1. Tenderloin (30,863); 2.South of Market (23,599); 3. Mission (19,150); 4. Civic Center (6,232); 5. Mission Dolores (4,096); 6. Lower Nob Hill(3,654); 7. Potrero Hill (2,489); 8. Showplace Square (2,022); 9. North Beach (1,826); and 10. Financial District (1,810).

Forbes described one area that featured the San Francisco Maritime National ParkGreat American Music HallThe Regency Ballroom, and the Liholiho Yacht Club, and noted the area had suffered 11,287 instances of human waste. Forbes added, “Neighborhoods affected include Tenderloin, Cathedral Hill, Lower Nob Hill, Polk GulchRussian Hill, and Pacific Heights.” In 2018, 28,000 places were cited; in 2017, roughly 20,000. In 2011, that number was 5,547. In 2016, according to Fox News, one area of the city reported a 140% rise in feces. As Jay Caruso of RedState noted at the time, “Public urination is so widespread it has damaged subway elevators and escalators, building walls and power poles.”

*Record High 70% of Russians Call Impact of Stalin’s Rule ‘Positive,’ 46% Say Deaths ‘Justified’:

According to a recent survey from the Levada Center,Russia’s foremost independent polling agency, 70 percent of Russians favorably regard the rule of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. Moreover, the survey found that 46 percent believe that the loss of human life that occurred under Stalin was justifiable. The Levada Center asked 1,638 Russians, “What role do you think Stalin played in the history of our country?” Among the respondents, 70 percent stated that the Soviet strongman played an “entirely positive” or “rather positive” role. The represents a 16-point increase from three years ago, when 54 percent gave the same answer.

Asked about their personal feelings towards Stalin, 51 percent of Russians said that they either admired, respected, or sympathized with him. Russians now rate Stalin’s performance higher than that of current Russian President Vladimir Putin. A different Levada Center poll conducted during the same time period found that 64 percent of Russians approve of Putin’s job as president, a five-year low for the long-time Russian leader.

*P.C. TO THE MAX! Kate Smith’s ‘God Bless America’ out at Yankee Stadium over Racist Songs:

The New York Yankees have decided to no longer run Kate Smith’s version of “God Bless America” during their seventh-inning stretch because of Smith’s affiliation with songs that carried racist lyrics. Most famously, Smith sang a 1931 song, “That’s Why Darkies Were Born,” which opened: “Someone had to pick the cotton, Someone had to pick the corn, Someone had to slave and be able to sing, That’s why darkies were born.”

The song, which has been called a satirical take on racism, was a big hit for Smith, and also was recorded by Paul Robeson. When the Yankees last month became aware of Smith’s history, they switched to a keyboard version of “God Bless America.”

*FDA Warns That Washington State Church Miracle Cure Is Just Bleach:

Washington state church called the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing plans to hold a ceremony on Saturday using MMS, or “miracle mineral solution or supplement” they claim cures 95 percent of all illnesses. The group’s Facebook page advertises the event, claiming that “Bishop Mark Grenon will be leading the seminar and introducing attendees to Chlorine Dioxide Therapy, otherwise known as MMS.” The post asks participants for “donations” of $450 per person; $800 for couples; and $400 for returning seminar students.

The FDA has warned participants not to attend. “Consumers who have MMS should stop using it immediately and throw it away,” a spokesman for the FDA told the Guardian. “The FDA continues to advise consumers about the dangers of Miracle Mineral Solution and the agency has issued warnings to consumers over the past decade.” The FDA did not confirm whether they would alert law enforcement to stop the ceremony.

Bailey Hefley, Sensational New Country Artist, Debuts Single, “Dust on a Diamond”

Bailey Hefley is a hopeful romantic, but you can’t blame her for believing in happy endings. She’s living proof that they exist. The 27-year-old native of Little Rock, Arkansas, suffered debilitating seizures as a small child. The medication that saved her life also robbed her of her innocent enthusiasm for eight years and left her in a state of perpetual lethargy.

As a teenager, she overcame the condition and felt “awake” for the first time. Bailey was ready to tackle life as an active participant, not just an observer. That meant making up for lost time by developing real friendships, discovering boys, and riding horses, a passion that led to competitive barrel racing. Nothing, however, has made more of an impression on her than music. In 2016, Bailey developed a friendship/mentorship with Jamie O’Neal, who scored a number of hits on the country charts in the early 2000s, including “There Is No Arizona,” “When I Think About Angels” and “Somebody’s Hero.”

Bailey will release her new EP, Hopeful Romantic, later this year. The six-song offering, all of which Bailey co-penned, is about finding love—and all the ups and downs that come with it. The EP’s lead single, “Dust on a Diamond,” produced by O’Neal, will be released on April 19. The single tackles a failed relationship that Bailey hopes can comfort other young women who have found themselves in similar circumstances.

*OH, CRAP! – People are Pooping More Than Ever on the Streets of San Francisco:

One of America‘s wealthiest cities has a huge problem with public poop. Between 2011 and 2018, San Franciscoexperienced a massive increase in reported incidents of human feces found on public streets.

In 2011, just over 5,500 reports were logged by the San Francisco Department of Public Works; in 2018, the number increased to more than 28,000. The government watchdog Open the Books documented the sharp increase over time in a stunning chart, first spotted by the BuzzFeed editor John Paczkowski.

Notably, this is a chart of only documented reports — the actual amount of feces on San Francisco’s streets is likely even higher than these statistics suggest. “I will say there is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here,” San Francisco Mayor London Breed told NBC in a 2018 interview. “That is a huge problem, and we are not just talking about from dogs — we’re talking about from humans.” San Francisco has struggled with a feces problem for years. The city even employs a “Poop Patrol” that attempts to keep the streets clean and focuses on the Tenderloin neighborhood.

But the problem is bigger than just keeping the streets clean — the issue appears to be related to the city’s struggle to accommodate its homeless population amid skyrocketing rent prices and a decreasing supply of affordable housing. A 2017 survey of San Francisco’s homeless population counted nearly 7,500 people living on the street. That population faces limited public resources, and public bathrooms are no exception. Whether the Poop Patrol is able to reverse the trend on San Francisco’s streets remains to be seen, but there’s an indication that the crew is a bandage on a problem much bigger than dirty streets.

*Hispanics to Outpace Black Americans as Largest Voting Minority in 2020:

Hispanic Americans are set to outpace Black Americans as the largest voting minority group in the 2020 election for the first time ever, new research finds. Pew Research Centerprojections predict that Hispanic American voters will now be the largest voting minority in the 2020 presidential election, passing black American voters for the first time in United States history. Hispanics have been the largest minority group in the U.S. since 2003. In total, Pew predicts that the number of eligible Hispanic voters in 2020 will tick up to a record 13.3 percent of the entire American electorate, while eligible black American voters will make up about 12.5 percent of the electorate.

*Report: Nearly Half Of California Sheriff Departments Are Resisting The State’s Sanctuary Cities Law:

According to a new study from the Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Asian Law Caucus and the University of Oxford Centre for Criminology-Border Criminologies, California‘s implementation of its “California Values Act” sanctuary cities law is not going particularly well. In fact, sheriffs in roughly half the state’s jurisdictions are actively resisting enforcement of the measure. Nearly half of California sheriff departments are protesting a new California law that bars them from helping federal immigration officials find criminal illegal immigrants, according to a new report.

What’s more, several of the 169 law enforcement agencies in California are challenging former Gov. Jerry Brown’s bid to hide criminal illegals by letting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to seize the wanted prisoners for deportation and not telling the state…

The report from the University of Oxford Centre for Criminology-Border Criminologies reveals what many law enforcement agencies are doing to get around the law. The report is critical of those moves and calls on the state to crack down on agencies that help ICE to find and remove criminal illegals.

Specifically, according to Bedard, 68 out of 169 sheriff departments considered by the study — about 40% — were not in compliance. Nonetheless, despite nearly half of all sheriff departments not fully complying, the Oxford study still reports that, “In its first five months from January 2018 to May 2018, [California Values Act] implementation led to a 41% decrease in ICE arrests at local jails compared to the immediately preceding five months from August 2017 to December 2017.”

George Zimmerman is once again looking for love online – but the disgraced neighborhood watchman will need to keep searching elsewhere after his fake Tinder profile was removed from the dating app. Screengrabs obtained by alt-weekly Creative Loafing Tampa Bay show that Zimmerman, 35, was trying to snag dates by billing himself as a self-employed consultant and a graduate of Virginia’s Liberty University named Carter just looking for “carefree fun” some six years after being acquitted of all charges in the slaying of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

“I love the outdoors, fishing, camping and hiking,” according to the profile, which has since been removed. “I love adventure [but] not into huge crowds. I’m also down for a quiet night with Longhorn [Steakhouse] take out.” Tampa Bay Zimmerman appeared in one photo smiling wide and was shown in a cap and gown in another picture. He’s also seen topless in another shot while holding a phone, exposing a tattoo near his heart, according to the screengrabs. A Tinder spokesperson confirmed  that the bogus profile had been removed.

*Man Sues Parents for Throwing Away his $26K Porn Collection:

He’s got no shame. A Michigan man is suing his parents for $86,000 for allegedly throwing out his massive porn collection, according to a report. The family feud began in October 2016, when, following a divorce, the man moved back in with his parents in Grand Rapids Mich., — bringing with him his $29,000 smut stockpile, according to federal civil court documents obtained by local outlet WXMI.

About 10 months later, the man, whose identity was withheld by the outlet, moved to a new home in Indiana and his parents sent him his belongings. That’s when he noticed his pornography pile — which consisted of over 12 moving boxes full of movies and two boxes of sex toys — was gone, according to Fox 13. The man tried calling the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, sending one officer 44 emails listing movies he says were destroyed — but authorities declined to press charges. Many of the porn flicks are valuable and out-of-print, according to the suit.

The man emailed his parents, writing: “If you had a problem with my belongings, you should have stated that at the time and I would have gone elsewhere. Instead, you choose to keep quiet and behave vindictively.” According to the suit, his father responded: “Believe it or not, one reason for why I destroyed your porn was for your own mental and emotional health.” “I would have done the same if I had found a kilo of crack cocaine,” his father added. “Someday, I hope you will understand.”

He recently wrote on the topic of Millennial suicide and depression, and now he’s ready to share his thoughts on social media and the suppression of the human voice.

Pillay states that he considered writing on the topic after coming across many different viewpoints on Michael Jackson’s character after the release of the “Finding Neverland” documentary. Although many people were in support of the documentary’s findings, others, such as Macaulay Culkin, rushed to defend Michael Jackson’s legacy. These differing opinions caused Pillay to reconsider prior thoughts on groupthink and one-sided viewpoints.

What are the risks of groupthink? Pillay believes the first of these is false confidence and dangerous authority. In 2009, political psychologist Jerrold Post and his colleagues explained that groups can sanction dangerous behaviors when large numbers falsely inspire confidence and authority. In fact, the end results are often dehumanizing. Throughout history, there are significant examples of crimes of obedience. “Living in Massachusetts, I am very aware of the Salem witch trials in 1692,” explains Pillay, “as a result of this bizarre groupthink, 20 innocent Puritans were killed.”

Groupthink can be a dangerous stronghold that people can be blind to. Unfortunately, the Internet is a breeding ground for history repeating itself unless people can open themselves to opinion-diversity again, which didn’t happen with the recent Michael Jackson case.

*EXAMINER–COMMENTARY by Walter E. Williams:
There’s a push to change laws to permit both criminals serving time and ex-criminals the right to vote. Guess which party is pushing the most for these legal changes. If you guessed that it was the Democrats, go to the head of the class. Bernie Sanders says states should allow felons to vote from behind bars. Elizabeth Warren doesn’t go that far but believes felons should have the right to vote. Democrats want the criminal class to have voting rights restored because they could become a significant part of the Democratic base.

These are America‘s murderers, rapists, burglars, child molesters and drug dealers. Over two million of these people are in prison. If we add in the number of people on probation and parole, there are 6.7 million people currently under correctional control. If cons and ex-cons get the right to vote, it’s almost a guarantee that most of these people will cast their vote for a Democratic candidate. Democrats don’t stop with wanting cons and ex-cons to vote. It turns out that more than 50 percent of Democrats surveyed want illegal immigrants to have the right to vote, as they already do in some Democratic-controlled cities.
