*EXAMINING FROM THE INDEPENDENT CENTER:

If your politics lean left, you likely didn’t hear that a major leak of Chinese Communist Party members’ database shows party members in executive positions at foreign institutions across the West.

If your politics bend to the right, you probably didn’t hear that contractors on President Trump’s border wall were allegedly bringing over Mexicans illegally to guard the wall construction sites.

*WOKE POLICE ALERT!-UNIVERSITY CLAIMS WORDS ‘PICNIC’ & ‘BROWN BAG’ ARE OFFENSIVE:

The University of Michigan has a “Words Matter Task Force.” Seriously. Maybe that’s why out-of-state tuition costs more than $66,000 a year. The WMTF, set up by the school’s Information and Technology Services (ITS) department, has declared that it finds more than two dozen words and phrases possibly offensive to people, including “picnic,” “brown bag” and “blacklist.” “To effectively communicate with customers, it is important for ITS to evaluate the terms and language conventions that may hinder effective communication, harm morale, and deliberately or inadvertently exclude people from feeling accepted to foment a healthy and inclusive culture,” the task force said in a memo. The WMTF offers alternative words to use, for instance urging people to say “gathering” instead of “picnic” and “lunch and learn” instead of “brown bag.”

“The word ‘picnic’ appears to be banned because of false suggestions on the internet that it originates from the racist, extrajudicial killings of African Americans,” The Daily Mail reported. “The word picnic actually comes from the 17th century French word ‘pique-nique,’ a term used to describe a social gathering in which attendees each contributed with a portion of food.” In July, the Reuters News Agency published a piece headlined: “Fact check: The word picnic does not originate from racist lynchings.”“Images circulating on social media make the claim that the word “picnic” originates from the racist, extrajudicial killings of African Americans. This claim is false.” Among other banned words include “dummy,” which should be replaced by “sample,” and “crippled,” which should be replaced with “weakened.” And instead of saying “crazy,” staff are encouraged to say “unthinkable.”

The task force also said “off the reservation” should be replaced with “outside the norms” or “rogue.” The language police have had a busy year in 2020. They killed the NFL team name of the Washington Redskins, which has so far been replaced only with “Washington Football Team” Then they went after “low-hanging fruit,” which the Oxford Dictionary defines as “a thing or person that can be won, obtained, or persuaded with little effort.” But a college professor said the term is racist. “For African-Americans, if you say ‘low-hanging fruit,’ we think lynching,” said Mae Hicks-Jones, an adjunct faculty member of Elgin Community College in Illinois.

“Grandfathered” is also racist, she said, according to a report in the College Fix. To Hicks-Jones, the phrase is reminiscent of a grandfather clause, which privileged white people’s right to vote over that of black people during the Jim Crow South. Then there was the “Masters” golf tournament. Rob Parker wrote a Deadspin headlined “We’ve Lived with ‘The Masters’ Name Long Enough.”Augusta National was built on grounds that were once a slave plantation and was the property of a slave owner. And according to a 2019 New Yorker piece about the course, it’s believed that enslaved Blacks were housed on the property,” he wrote. Oh, there’s more. The largest cosmetics company in the world announced that it will remove words like “whitening,” “fair” and “lightening” from the packaging of its products. “The L’Oreal Group has decided to remove the words white/whitening, fair/fairness, light/lightening from all its skin evening products,” the French cosmetics giant said in statement, according to The Associated Press.

*CONGRESSMAN-ELECT SAYS CAPITALISM IS THE “NEW SLAVERY”:

The Squad has a new member in Jamaal Bowman, a Democrat elected to represent New York’s 16th district. The soon-to be sworn in freshman House member has called capitalism the new slavery. Bowman is openly against capitalism and preaching the gospel of government involvement and control in all aspects of our lives. “Bowman ran on a platform that included a ‘reconstruction agenda’ which supports taxing the rich and creating ‘baby bonds’ that would create an account for all newborn children with an initial deposit of $1,000 and every year until the child turns 18 an additional $2,000 would be deposited.”

*WTF? – EX-BIN LADEN HENCHMAN FREED FROM NJ PRISON AFTER JUDGE DEEMS HIM TOO FAT FOR JAIL:

A former Osama bin Laden henchman convicted in two deadly 1998 bombings is free and living in the UK this week after being released early — thanks to a Manhattan federal judge who agreed the terrorist was way too obese to survive the coronavirus behind bars. Adel Abdel Bary, 60, had spent 21 years in a New Jersey prison for his role in the 1998 al Qaeda bombings of two US embassies in Africa that killed 224 people, including 12 Americans.“Defendant’s obesity and somewhat advanced age make COVID-19 significantly more risky to him than to the average person,” US District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan wrote in granting the release.

Bary had been set to be freed on Oct. 28, but his attorneys asked that he be let out sooner, citing their client’s age, girth and asthma. “Mr. Bary’s continued incarceration now significantly increases his risk of infection, which could wreak disastrous health outcomes,” his lawyer wrote in court documents. While prosecutors didn’t agree that Bary’s age made him more at risk to catch COVID-19, they did concede his body mass index of 36 did. “The defendant’s obesity is an extraordinary and compelling reason that could justify a reduction of his sentence in light of the current pandemic,” they wrote.

*BILL GATES MAKES BLEAK PREDICTION FOR WHEN CORONAVIRUS WILL FINALLY END:

Bill Gates has offered his prediction for when the coronavirus pandemic will finally be over. The billionaire Microsoft founder has made a number of guesses about key events of the global health crisis that has brought the world to a standstill, most of which have been proven correct.  Sadly he doesn’t think we’ll be completely back to normal until halfway through 2022, although he believes things could start resuming in some countries over the spring of 2021. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced it’s committing a further $250 million to “support the research, development, and equitable delivery of lifesaving tools” in the fight against Covid-19.

It brings the charity’s total contributions to the pandemic to $1.75 billion. Gates says the recent groundbreaking developments in vaccines are a good sign that the end of the pandemic could be in sight, but it will be some time until the entire world sees its benefits. “By the summer of 2021, the rich countries will have more vaccine coverage than other countries,” he said. “So, the rich countries will be going mostly back to normal. But I still think because the virus will be in the world, we still will be somewhat conservative about large public events, we will still have some mask-wearing.

*SUICIDES AMONG U.S. KIDS, YOUNG ADULTS JUMPED 57% IN PAST DECADE:

Increasing numbers of American children and young adults died by suicide in recent years, and the Covid-19 pandemic threatens to continue the trend. Suicide rates among youth ages 10 to 24 increased by 57% between 2007 and 2018, data released from the National Center for Health Statistics shows, rising from almost 7 per 100,000 population to nearly 11. Comparing three-year averages from 2007 to 2009 to the time period between 2016 and 2018 brought the increase down to 47%.

*SUBMITTED FOR YOUR APPROVAL – SEATTLE CONSIDERING ‘POVERTY DEFENSE’ EXEMPTING CRIMINALS BASED ON THEIR NEEDS:

The Seattle City Council is considering changing the criminal code so that criminals who have committed trespassing, theft, or even simple assault could be exempt from prosecution if they could prove that their survival depended on their criminal acts. Councilmember Lisa Herbold and Anita Khandelwal, the King County’s director of the Department of Public Defense, introduced the idea of changing the criminal code. Herbold first brought the idea of what is nicknamed the “poverty defense” in October.

KOMO reported at the time:If approved, the ordinance would excuse and dismiss — essentially legalizing — almost all misdemeanor crimes committed in Seattle by offenders who could show either: Symptoms of addiction without being required to provide a medical diagnosis; Symptoms of a mental disorder; or Poverty and the crime was committed to meet an “immediate and basic need.” For example, if a defendant argued they stole merchandise to sell for cash in order to purchase food, clothes or was trying to scrape together enough money for rent. The accused could not be convicted.

“The advocates’ proposal covers all misdemeanor crimes, except DUIs and domestic violence cases,” KIRO 7 noted. Khandelwal stated, “In a situation where you took that sandwich because you were hungry and you were trying to meet your basic need of satisfying your hunger; we as the community will know that we should not punish that. That conduct is excused,” according to KOMO.

*HOW TO TELL IF YOUR HEART IS IN GOOD HEALTH: CAN YOU CLIMB 4 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS IN 90 SECONDS?:

Think you’re in pretty good shape but don’t use a Fitbit or other smart devices to keep track of your health? No problem, researchers with the European Society of Cardiology say all you need is a stopwatch and a few flights of stairs. Their study reveals the time it takes someone to climb four flights of stairs can reveal their overall heart health and risk for coronary artery disease. “The stairs test is an easy way to check your heart health,” says study author Dr. Jesús Peteiro, a cardiologist at University Hospital A Coruña, in a media release. “If it takes you more than one-and-a-half minutes to ascend four flights of stairs, your health is suboptimal, and it would be a good idea to consult a doctor.” The study examined 165 patients who displayed symptoms of coronary artery disease and had been referred for exercise testing on their hearts. Each of these patients had been dealing with issues including chest pain or shortness of breath while exerting themselves. Researchers wanted to study the link between regular daily activities (like climbing stairs) and lab exercises for heart patients. “The idea was to find a simple and inexpensive method of assessing heart health,” Dr. Peteiro adds. “This can help physicians triage patients for more extensive examinations.”

Participants first walked or ran on a treadmill, with the intensity gradually increasing, until they became exhausted. Researchers measured the results in metabolic equivalents (METs), which reveals a link to mortality rate. The more METs someone exercising can achieve, the lower their chances of premature death are. After resting for 15 to 20 minutes, the group then climbed up four flights of stairs (60 stairs) without stopping and without running. Patients who took between 40 and 45 seconds to go up the stairs averaged between nine and 10 METs during the exercise test. Study authors say reaching 10 METs during exercise has a connection to low mortality rates (less than one percent per year). On the other hand, patients who took 90 seconds to make it up the stairs averaged under eight METs. This translates to a mortality rate of two to four percent each year, or 30 percent over 10 years.

*EXAMINER – ECONOMICS: FEDERAL GOV SPENDING NEARLY TWICE AS MUCH AS IT’S TAKING IN

Two months into fiscal 2021, the federal government has spent nearly twice as much money as it has taken in through revenue after posting a 14th consecutive month of deficit spending. According to the Treasury Department spending data, the federal government ran a $145 billion deficit in November, driven heavily by spending on Social Security benefits, health care and national defense.

Combined with October’s $284 billion deficit, the federal government has spent $887 billion in fiscal 2021—nearly twice the $457 billion it has captured thus far through taxes and other forms of revenue. The government’s deficit spending follows a record-breaking fiscal 2020, wherein agencies combined to spend a record $6.5 trillion, with a total deficit of $3.1 trillion. A sizable portion of spending in late fiscal 2020 was driven by spending on coronavirus relief packages and some decreases in collected revenue. Congress is currently considering another COVID-19 relief bill worth more than $900 billion.

*WOKE-NESS ON STEROIDS: SF TO DROP ABE LINCOLN’S NAME FROM HIGH SCHOOL:

Social Justice Warriors and the woke culture have decided the best way to cure the societal ills they perceive happening today is by changing the names of schools, even if that means removing the names of American icons like Abraham Lincoln. “The district’s renaming committee decided Lincoln is not worthy of keeping his name on Abraham Lincoln High School because ‘the majority of his policies proved to be detrimental to [Native Americans].'” — DailyMail.com. It’s not the Babylon Bee or The Onion. San Francisco is actually removing dozens of names from high schools because, well, they’re not “woke enough.” In the case of Lincoln, many jaws dropped at the reason. The counsel behind this nonsense believes the man who ended slavery in America, and was KILLED for doing so, did not show “black lives mattered to him.” Abe’s not alone, the Offendinistas are also targeting George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, and Dianne Feinstein for this public erasure.

*HERE WE GO AGAIN! – PROTESTORS HAVE ARMED GUARDS, STOCKPILED WEAPONS AT PORTLAND OCCUPIED ZONE:

The Portland police chief said he was”greatly concerned” about an area occupied by a group of activists camped outside a home dubbed “Red House on Mississippi” on North Mississippi Avenue, in an attempt to block the eviction of a Black and Indigenous family. According to the police chief, the militant group have stockpiled weapons, assigned armed guards and spray-painted threats to kill police officers. “We want a peaceful & safe resolution to the occupation of public space on N Mississippi Ave,” Chief Chuck Lovell said on Twitter. “We are greatly concerned about the fortification of barricades, stockpiling of weapons, armed sentries, attacks on journalists & threats to kill officers in graffiti in this public space.”

Lovell said residents neighboring the property are “suffering” and have been boarding up their homes and erecting fencing around their own properties amid concerns about “threatening behavior and intimidation they’ve experienced” over the past three months. The occupation continued early Wednesday and individuals remained overnight setting up additional barricades and fortifications. Police were not at the scene overnight, but the bureau tweeted Wednesday that demonstration liaison officers were available to communicate with those at the house. As law enforcement officers stood on the perimeter of the barricade, people threw rocks at them and paint-filled balloons, according to an earlier police statement. Activists refuted the mayor’s claim that they formed an autonomous zone, and instead told a reporter for the Portland Tribune that they formed an “eviction blockade.”

*THIRD OF AMERICANS BINGE DRINK DURING COVID PANDEMIC, BUT LOCK-DOWNS MAKE PROBLEMS WORSE:

From social isolation to fears about job loss, the stresses of living in quarantine can have a devastating impact on millions of people during COVID-19. For drinkers, the problems of living in lockdown may be even worse. A new study finds harmful drinkers, or binge drinkers, consume more the longer they stay in COVID isolation. The study of nearly 2,000 American adults is the first to reveal the connection between alcohol use and stress triggered by pandemic-related shutdowns. The results find binge drinkers consume an extra 19 percent for every week in lockdown. The odds of drinkers having more alcohol is more than twice as high among harmful drinkers compared to those who don’t drink to excess (60% vs 28%). This is especially true among drinkers with depression or a history of bingeing. Overall, one in three Americans report binge drinking during the coronavirus pandemic. The average person also reports spending about four weeks in lockdown this year; spending 21 hours a day at home. More than seven in 10 people in the survey did not even leave their home for work.

*CNN BIAS EXPOSED – EXECS OPENLY DISCUSS TANKING HUNTER BIDEN STORY:

The latest release from Project Veritas’ James O’Keefe includes some damning audio showing CNN’s obvious bias in favor of Joe Biden. “‘Obviously, we’re not going with the New York Post story right now on Hunter Biden and, which seems to be giving its marching orders to Fox News and the right-wing echo chamber about what to talk about today,’ CNN political director David Chalian said.” — DailyWire.com. The second day of releases of recordings from CNN’s morning editorial meetings only confirms what many believed: the cable news channel was completely in the tank for Joe Biden. While the network’s naked bias is infuriating to people expecting a fair press, many are entertained by CNN’s crying “foul” over the secret recordings. “We remind CNN President Zucker how the channel milked secret recordings of the First Lady in order to smear her and President Trump” said a high-level media source to LBN Examiner.

*DISASTER: NEW STATS REVEAL MASSIVE NYC EXODUS AMID CRIME, CHAOS, CORONAVIRUS:

More than 300,000 New Yorkers have bailed from the Big Apple in the last eight months, new stats show. City residents filed 295,103 change of address requests from March 1 through Oct. 31, according to data obtained from the US Postal Service under a Freedom of Information Act request. Since the data details only when 11 or more forwarding requests were made to a particular county outside NYC, the number of moves is actually higher. And a single address change could represent an entire household, which means far more than 300,000 New Yorkers fled the five boroughs.

Whatever the exact number, the exodus — which began when COVID-19 hit the city in early spring — is much greater than in prior years. From just March through July, there were 244,895 change of address requests to destinations outside of the city, more than double the 101,342 during the same period in 2019. The escape from New York is fueled not only by coronavirus concerns, but economic worries, school chaos and rising crime, experts say.

*SEATTLE TO SLASH POLICE BUDGET AS HOMICIDES HIT HIGHEST LEVEL IN OVER A DECADE:

Seattle is preparing to slash the city’s police budget just as homicides in the city climb to their highest level in more than a decade. Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan is set to sign a city budget that includes an 18 percent cut to the Seattle Police Department, a move that comes after police reform activists demanded the police budget be reduced by half. Calls for police reform have abounded in cities across the country since May, when George Floyd died at the hands of police in Minneapolis. The city council voted last week to slash about $69 million in funding for officer training, salaries and overtime, and get rid of vacant positions in the police department as well as transfer parking officers, mental health workers, and 911 dispatchers out of the department. The goal is to ultimately reinvest in alternatives to police in situations such as mental health crises. Meanwhile, Seattle had seen 55 murders this year as of Monday, the highest level since at least 2008, the last year of data available. The troubled city is also suffering a spike in violent crime, with 8,418 burglary incidents, up from to 7,634 last year, according to police.

***Another day, another anonymous angry, bitter idiot deciding what is appropriate for everyone. Today’s example comes with an unsigned letter chastising a homeowner because the aggrieved party thinks the homeowner’s Christmas decorations are excessive. “‘The idea of twinkling, colorful lights are a reminder of divisions that continue to run through our society, a reminder of systemic biases against our neighbors who don’t celebrate Christmas or who can’t afford to put up lights of their own,’ the letter, shared by Crime Watch Minneapolis, reads.” I can only speak for myself, but a letter like this one would inspire me to immediately double the size of the display while petitioning the Woke Olympics committee to award a gold medal to the anonymous complainer. After all, a trophy, ribbon or medal is likely what they really wanted. “Congrats! You tried!”

*WOKE ALERT – SAN DIEGO TEACHERS FORCED TO ATTEND ‘ WHITE PRIVILEGE’ TRAINING, ‘YOU ARE RACIST’:

All San Diego teachers are being required to attend a “white privilege” training in which they are told, “you are racist” and must commit to becoming “anti-racist” in the classroom, according to a report.  The San Diego Unified School District begins the sessions with instructors telling the faculty members that they will experience “guilt, anger, apathy [and] closed-mindedness” because of their “white fragility,” according to leaked documents obtained by journalist Christopher F. Rufo. During the training, the teachers are taught about “land acknowledgment” and asked to accept that the US was established on stolen Native American land, the report said.

They also learn about the teachings of “White Fragility” author Robin DiAngelo and “Be Antiracist: A Journal for Awareness, Reflection and Action” author Ibram X. Kend. After watching clips of the two authors, the trainers tell the group that “you are racist” and “upholding racist ideas, structures, and policies.” The group is challenged to become “anti-racist” in the classroom as well as “confront and examine [their] white privilege” and “teach others to see their privilege,” according to the report. The school district didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.

*VAN MORRISON SINGS FOR THE VOICELESS:

Van Morrison knows what censorship means even if Internet mobs don’t. He has released three new songs, “No More Lockdown,” “As I Walked Out,” and “Born to Be Free,” that movingly speak against the new autocratic culture that too many people — especially trusted media figures, particularly left-leaning pop artists — accept without flinching. The hysterical social-media response castigating Morrison’s compassionate new music (a fourth song, “Stand and Deliver,” is promised) only proves his point: We are deep into a second wave of undemocratic submission. It’s taken such a strange turn that Twitter thugs set out to rewrite cultural history, denying Morrison’s expressive genius in songs such as “Gloria,” “Brown-Eyed Girl,” “Domino,” “Moondance,” “Into the Mystic,” and the masterpiece albums Astral Weeks and Irish Heartbeat. The hecklers are trashing his musical legend (“He was never any good!”) merely to explain their own unease. Morrison’s anti-lockdown songs — his freedom songs — disturb their willing obedience to political authority.

COVID conformity also overwhelms many people’s instincts when politicians use fear as a tactic of mind control. Morrison, whose most fascinating work creates a musical vocabulary expressing his personal relation to Christianity and his ongoing spiritual search, sees pandemic panic for what it is and counters the fear of death that grips our secular society. It has become a weapon of the media elite, instilling a perverse desire for political domination, so Morrison makes the most political — and potentially popular — music of his career, hoping to spark his listeners’ life-affirming instincts. “No more threats,” Morrison proclaims on “No More Lockdowns.” In the lost tradition of the Beatles’ “Revolution,” Morrison finds means to oppose status-quo quasi-liberalism: “No more celebrities / Telling us what we’re supposed to feel.”

*NYC’S ICONIC 21 CLUB TO SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD:

New York City’s iconic 21 Club restaurant is closing down after 90 years of good food and even better celebrity intrigue. The historic Midtown eatery — a favorite haunt for John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway and Frank Sinatra, and a dining spot for nearly every president since FDR — has shuttered its jockeys-guarded doors indefinitely, a rep told The Post. Its 148 employees have been told that they’ll all be out of a job as of early March. “The company is exploring potential opportunities that will allow 21 Club to remain a viable operation in the long term, while retaining its distinctive character,” a spokesperson told The Post.

“At this early stage, we are not ready to announce any final concept or timeframe, but the vision is that 21 Club will always remain an important social and cultural hub and icon of New York, one that is well positioned to fulfill its role in the City’s exciting future when the time comes.” News of 21’s closing came just hours after Gov. Cuomo announced that indoor dining will shut down yet again throughout the state on Monday due to increasing COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths.  The restaurant had already been shuttered since March, 2020 “to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus and protect its guests and employees,” the rep said.
“In light of the ongoing global crisis and anticipated extended recovery period for the hospitality industry, the difficult decision has been made that it will not be feasible to reopen the 21 Club in its current form for the foreseeable future.”

The eatery opened on January 1, 1930, quickly becoming one of America’s most famous speakeasies from the Prohibition Era, a description from its Facebook page says.
The restaurant features 10 private dining rooms, including a Prohibition-era wine cellar, and is steeped in legend.
With the exception of George W. Bush, every president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt has dined at 21.

*NEWSMAX TV SCORES A RATINGS WIN OVER FOX NEWS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER:

Newsmax TV has notched a ratings win over Fox News Channel for the very first time. The win, fueled by conservative viewers who are disappointed by the election results, happened Monday evening. In the key 25- to 54-year-old demographic prized by advertisers, “Greg Kelly Reports” on Newsmax out-rated “The Story with Martha MacCallum” on Fox. The margin was narrow — Kelly averaged 229,000 viewers in the demo and MacCallum averaged 203,000 — but it is still a milestone in the cable news industry.

For its part, Google is doing everything it can to avoid having to reveal any information about its decision to make children’s products–in violation of its agreement not to destroy the Googles business. The original slogan of Google was “Don’t be evil.” When Google changed its corporate name to Alphabet in 2015, it changed the slogan to “Do the right thing.” “Google is failing to live up to the spirit of either slogan,” said John Magliery, attorney for SM Kids.

SM Kids owns Googles, an online children’s platform whose trademarks and domain preceded Google. In 2008, Google settled a trademark dispute with Googles that allowed Google to move forward with its search engine business as long as the company did not offer products similar to the Googles kids website, or create, develop, or publish children’s content. Googles, in turn, agreed to not pursue providing internet search services.

Despite the fact that Google subsequently entered into the children’s space in violation of the 2008 agreement, Google is now making every effort to avoid having the case litigated on its merits. While SM Kids is seeking to depose past and present Google employees who know about the Settlement Agreement, Google sought to prevent the depositions of all but two of the witnesses, either on the grounds that the witnesses are lawyers or high-level executives, or because Google would prefer a witness of its own choosing testify on the topic for which the targeted deponent is most knowledgeable. Google filed a letter motion for a protective order on November 20, 2020. SM Kids opposed and cross-moved for an order compelling the depositions.

At the same time, SM Kids moved for an order compelling Google’s production of documents. Knowing that there is a short window for discovery permitted by the Court, Google has waited until the eleventh hour, just before depositions are to begin, to reveal that it will not produce any real documents about this case. This, in addition to Google’s attempt to prevent the depositions of nearly all of the relevant witnesses. Ultimately, the Court ruled that SM Kids is entitled to take the depositions of the lawyers who negotiated and signed the 2008 settlement agreement, Adam Barea and Timothy Alger, and is entitled to take the deposition of at least one of the high-level executives who knows about Google’s children’s projects and services and why, apparently, Google ignored the 2008 settlement agreement when it decided to make those products. The depositions will occur over the next month.

“We wish this dispute could have been avoided, but SM Kids has been given no choice but to protect its rights. Therefore, we are forced to have our day in court against Google, and we will not be dissuaded by their strategy,” said Magliery. “Children have a right to a safe space on the internet, where parents do not have to be concerned about compromising their children’s safety or personal data. Google has a track record of failing to screen for unsafe content and collecting data on children for its own profits. Together with the antitrust case the government has brought, it’s obvious that Google seeks to crush its competitors. Beyond that, Google has hampered SM Kids every step of the way as they have worked to create a modern, safe space for kids online. Now we are saying ‘enough’.”

Holiday retailers use music to attract potential shoppers. For example, if shoppers like the type of music retailers are playing, they will be more likely to enter the store and like the products. Additionally, the slower the tempo of the music, the slower people will walk through the store, and the more they will buy. A faster tempo will encourage shoppers to walk faster and, consequently, they won’t buy as much.

*EXAMINER – TECH: NO LONGER GOLDEN STATE – ELON MUSK MOVES TO TEXAS, ABANDONS CA

Texas has a new, very rich resident. Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX and the world’s second richest man, has said he has quit California for the Lone Star State, where Tesla’s new factory is being built, after a series of well-publicized run-ins with California authorities over his coronavirus strategy. Musk refused to obey orders to keep shuttered his factories in the early days of the pandemic. Musk revealed his move at an event organized by The Wall Street Journal. He said the San Francisco Bay Area “has too much influence on the world,” but added that he believed the power locus was shifting, saying, “I think we’ll see some reduction in the influence of Silicon Valley.” Conveniently for Musk, who qualified this year for billions of dollars in stock-option compensation as part of a pay-package agreement, Texas doesn’t collect state income or capital-gains taxes for individuals.

*WHAT’S UP by Sarah Garcia:

***Liberals idea of “fairness” in relieving student debt is giving graduates of elite institutions a taxpayer-funded handout. What about the 64% of Americans who didn’t go to college who are trying to make ends meet? What about those who worked hard to pay off their loans?

***The “kingmaker” looks more like a court jester. Billionaire former Big Apple Mayor Mike Bloomberg dumped about $100 million into a bid to help Joe Biden defeat President Trump in Florida, Ohio and Texas — but his candidate lost all three anyway.
