Russia is carrying out a “significant disinformation campaign” in an attempt to create more panic and distrust in Western countries as they deal with the novel coronavirus pandemic, according to a document created by European Union officials. “A significant disinformation campaign by Russian state media and pro-Kremlin outlets regarding COVID-19 is ongoing,” said the document, which was sent to European lawmakers Monday and has been seen by Reuters news agency. “The overarching aim of Kremlin disinformation is to aggravate the public-health crisis in Western countries… in line with the Kremlin’s broader strategy of attempting to subvert European societies.” The document was created by the EU’s foreign-policy arm, the European External Action Service. Russia’s official statistics seem to show that the country has virtually no coronavirus cases within its borders—but medical experts have said those numbers are probably very misleading, as Vladimir Putin seeks another term as president.

By the largest majority of any reader poll in the 18-year history of LBN Examiner, 99% of readers in all 50 of the United States and 26 foreign countries called the once beautiful city of San Francisco a “nightmare of crime, homelessness, filth, and addiction”. According to Dr. Debra Klein, a life-long resident of San Francisco, “to call our City a S—t house is an understatement” said Klein. “It looks more like a scene out of a horror movie. It’s heartbreaking. All leaders of the City should be ashamed of themselves. Blatant crime is tolerated as normal. Police do nothing, afraid to act.”

TikTok told its moderators to suppress posts from ugly and poor people, according to a report from The Intercept. The Chinese video-sharing app, which has hundreds of millions of users, reportedly laid out a number of flaws that could lead to videos being secretly barred from the “For You” section of the app, where posts are promoted to a massive audience. The Intercept reports that leaked documents show that videos have been hidden because they show “rural poverty, slums, beer bellies, and crooked smiles.”

The document appears to show the company’s fears that uploads by unattractive users could “decrease the short-term new user retention rate,” adding: “If the character’s appearance or the shooting environment is not good, the video will be much less attractive, not worthing [sic] to be recommended to new users.” The documents also reportedly show that moderators were also told to censor political speech, punishing users who harmed “national honor.” A TikTok spokesperson said “most of” the guidelines reviewed by The Intercept “are either no longer in use, or in some cases appear to never have been in place.”

More people stuck at home has led to a higher demand for cannabis, and Aphria Inc. is one of the best-positioned companies to take advantage of that trend, an analyst at Bank of America said. “Our checks across North America were consistent: regardless of region, cannabis purchases have accelerated,” analyst Christopher Carey said in a note. “While likely on pantry loading, it’s not unreasonable to think there will be some boost to per capita consumption as people stay at home longer.” This implies that pot is a defensive category, like alcohol and tobacco. Carey upgraded Aphria to buy from neutral, although he cut his price target to C$5 from C$8 to reflect the impact of market turbulence on cannabis shares. The company “could increasingly take a disproportionate share of increased demand” as its peers struggle, he said.

A convicted adoption scammer got the maximum sentence—10 years in prison—but the judge decided that wasn’t enough. On Thursday, he ordered Tara Lynn Lee of New Haven, Michigan, to read aloud and tape-record the impact statements of 40 families she promised to match with babies and then swindled. “If you miss even one word, you’re going to start over again,” federal judge Bernard Friedman told Lee, saying she really deserved a life sentence for a $2.1 million fraud that broke the hearts of would-be adoptive parents. Prosecutors said Lee used the ill-gotten gains to buy jewelry, airline tickets, and designer duds.

Iran is yet again facing another crisis, this time due to the Coronavirus. Iran is second to China in this epidemic where already the death toll is at catastrophic levels. The true total of deaths are not being released by the Islamic Republic. Most of the world are not willing or are unable to deal with Iran due to its behavior over the last 40 years. Through his connections, Shahrokh “Sean” Mireskandari, an expert lawyer living in Los Angeles, has formed a group of Iranian experts called Vaccines Without Borders to raise money to buy 80 million vaccines from the Israeli Pharmaceutical Company. The pharmaceutical company has recently announced that it has been successful in finding a vaccine and will be ready to distribute the Coronavirus vaccine in a few weeks.

The Iranian people have yet again suffered due to 40 years of dishonesty, corruption, and mismanagement by the Islamic regime. Facing serious sanctions, the regime is still not willing to face reality and unwilling to start behaving like a normal country in order to be accepted into the world community. The regime is willing to spend billions of dollars on its nefarious activity, while not willing to save its own people.

Mireskandari has started to raise money to buy 80 million vaccines and give it to the Iranian people for free. He has also hired the Sandler Reiff Law firm in Washington, DC, to deal with the US Government and make sure that the group is not violating any sanctions. If the sanctions at present prevent the distribution of the vaccine to the people of Iran, the group will contact President Trump and request a waiver. Mireskandari believes that President Trump will always help those in need especially in such circumstances where 80 million Iranians are at serious risk.

Vaccines Without Borders is taking an initiative to aid everyone by making the vaccines free of charge. Mireskandari’s plan is to also get the aid of the Red Cross and other established respected charities to assist in the distribution. Any and all funds raised will be paid directly to these charities or directly to the Israeli Pharmaceutical Company. Some of the top Iranian celebrities, such as international singers Sattar and Jamshid Alimorad, as well as famous Iranians, such as Dr Alireza Nourizadeh, have already agreed to be involved and assist the Iranian people in the venture.

Many of the country’s largest retailers and fast-food chains don’t pay employees when they’re sick ― a policy that could put those workers, their families and the public at risk as the coronavirus sweeps through the U.S. Workers at Target, Walmart, Kroger, Taco Bell, Subway, Burger King and a slew of other well-known businesses say they don’t get paid sick leave, according to a survey of workers from The Shift Project, a joint research effort from two sociologists at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, San Francisco.

Once every decade a book comes along with an insight so penetrating, so powerful – and so simply, demonstrably true -that it instantly changes the way we think and do business. Such a book is Broken Windows, Broken Business, a breakthrough in management theory that can alter the destiny of countless companies striving to stay ahead of their competition. “In this vital work, the author offers compelling evidence that problems in business, large and small, typically stem from inattention to tiny details. Social psychologists and criminologists agree that if a window in a building is broken and left unrepaired, soon thereafter the rest of the windows will be broken – and the perception will build that crime in that neighborhood is out of control. The same principle applies to business.” “Drawing on real-world corporate examples, from JetBlue‘s decision to give fliers what they really want – leather seats, personal televisions, online ticketing – to Google’s customer-based strategy for breaking out of the pack of Internet search engines, to business-to-business firms’ successes and failures, the author proves again and again how constant vigilance and an obsession with detail can make or break a business or a brand.”

“With tips and advice on changing any business to one that dots its i’s, crosses its t’s, and attracts more clients, Broken Windows, Broken Business goes straight to the heart of what makes all enterprises successful – the little things that mean a lot.”

It’s vital to be able to trust the news, but in today’s world of fragmented journalism augmented with a healthy dose of citizen journalism, misinformation is running rampant. Perhaps more disturbing is the perception that people don’t care if a viral news story is accurate or not.
