*YIKES – Half of Young Americans Want to Live in Socialist Country, But 67.1% Credit Free Enterprise for
High Earnings:

While half of Millennial and Generation Z Americans say they’d rather live in a socialist country, an even greater percentage believe that free enterprise results in higher earnings. According to a Harris Poll of 2,035 adults, conducted Feb. 21–25, 2019 and provided to Axios, Millennials and Generation Z respondents were more likely than the national average to agree with the statement that they would “Prefer living in a socialist country.”

Prefer living in a socialist country:
•    Total: 37.2%
•    Mill/Gen Z: 49.6%

Nonetheless, more than two-thirds of the Millennial and Generation Z cohorts agree than free enterprise produces high earnings, only slightly lower than the national average.

High earnings result of free enterprise:
•    Total: 71.2%
•    Mill/Gen Z: 67.1%

The Millennial and Generation Z contingents are comprised of those Americans 38 years old or younger, Pew Researchexplains: “Anyone born between 1981 and 1996 (ages 23 to 38 in 2019) is considered a Millennial, and anyone born from 1997 onward is part of a new generation.“Since the oldest among this rising generation are just turning 22 this year, and most are still in their teens or younger, we hesitated at first to give them a name – Generation Z, the iGeneration and Homelanderswere some early candidates.”

*Ronald Reagan Warned Us This
Day Could Come:

“I’m warning of an eradication of the American memory that could result, ultimately, in an erosion of the American spirit.” So cautioned President Ronald Reagan, 30 years ago today, when he gave his Farewell Address to the nation.

A new generation of Americans doesn’t seem to fully appreciate America, her history and heroes, the promise of opportunity, the understanding of freedom, or the concepts of citizenship, shared responsibility, or the rule of law.

According to a recent report on the State of American Patriotism, 46 percent of young Americans (aged 14-37) disagree that “America is the greatest country in the world,” and 38 percent of the same cohort say they are not proud of America’s history. Our last three presidents, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump have been dismissed by opponents as illegitimate, increasing the political divide.

*75 Percent of Republicans Say White Americans Are Discriminated Against:

The victimization of white America put forth by conservatives and right-wing media has taken hold, according to the results in a new poll from Hill-HarrisX. A whopping 75 percent of registered Republican voters said that white Americans face discrimination.

A majority of Independents, 55 percent, sided with Republicans and said white Americans are discriminated against. Meanwhile, only 38 percent Democrats agreed, and sixty-two percent of Democrats said that white Americans face little or no discrimination at all.

*ICE: 158,581 Illegals Arrested in FY2018; Those Arrested Had 1,641 Homicide Convictions, 1,294
Kidnap Convictions:

The latest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement(ICE) report on arrests and removals of illegal aliens shows that the total number of arrests in Fiscal Year 2018 was 158,581, an increase of 11% over the total arrests in FY 2017.

In addition, the report reveals that among those arrested were individuals with 1,641 homicide convictions, 1,294 kidnapping convictions, 3,740 sexual assault convictions, more than 54,000 DUI convictions, and more than 55,000 dangerous drug offense convictions.

Fiscal Year 2018 covered the period from Oct. 1, 2017 to Sept. 30, 2018. The report details the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) for that year. “ERO identifies, arrests, and removes aliens who present a danger to national security or a threat to public safety, or who otherwise undermine border control and the integrity of the U.S. immigration system,” states ICE in the document.

*Top 5 States That Rely Most
on Federal Aid:

In a new report on how much federal aid goes into state budgets, the Tax Foundation found that “33 percent of all state revenues consisted of federal grants-in-aid” but Mississippi‘s budget held the largest percentage: 43.3%. Virginia‘s budget held the lowest percentage, 21.1% in federal aid. The data presented were from fiscal year 2016, the latest information available. As the Tax Foundation explained, “Federal aid is allocated to states for a variety of purposes, primarily to supplement state funding for programs or projects deemed to be of national interest. Some federal aid is awarded in the form of competitive grants, while other federal funding is allocated according to formulas established by law.”

“States that rely heavily on federal grants-in-aid tend to have sizable low-income populations and relatively lower tax revenues,” said the Tax Foundation.  “On the other hand, states with relatively lower reliance on federal aid tend to collect more in taxes and have smaller low-income populations, although some exceptions exist.”

The top 5 states whose general revenue funds comprised the highest percentages in federal aid are:

Mississippi, 43.4% of budget is federal aid
Louisiana, 42.7%
New Mexico, 41.2%
Arizona, 41.2%
Kentucky, 40.9%

The top 5 states whose general revenue funds comprised the lowest percentages in federal aid are:

Virginia, 21.1%
Hawaii, 22.7%
Kansas, 23%
North Dakota, 23.8%
Utah, 25.7%

 *EXAMINER–INVESTIGATES: Dreams:

*Egyptian pharaohs were considered children of Ra (Egyptian sun god) and, thus, their dreams were seen as being divine.

•    In the Chinese province of Fu-Kein, people called on their ancestors for dream revelation by sleeping on graves.

•    Scientists suggest that the dreams of fetuses are mostly composed of sound and touch sensations, given the lack of visual stimuli in the womb.

•    Among the six dreams reported in the New Testament are the dreams that communicate divine knowledge, instruction, and warning to Joseph, husband of Mary, mother of Jesus.

•    About 80% of neonatal and newborn sleep time is REM sleep, suggesting a tremendous amount of time dreaming.

•    According to Plato, dreams originate in the organs of the belly. Plato describes the liver in particular as the biological seat of dreams.

•    Elias Howe (1819-1867) said one inspiration for his invention of the sewing machine came from a nightmare he had about being attacked by cannibals bearing spears that looked like the needle he then designed.

•    The average person has about 1,460 dreams a year. That’s about four per night.

People are more likely to remember their dreams if they wake up during the REM phase.

•    Modern research has shown that a sharp decrease in daily calories results in fewer nocturnal ejaculations in men and an overall decrease in the sexual themes of dreams.

•    Aside from those who experience certain kinds of injury, it’s a biological fact that everyone dreams. However, not everyone remembers his or her dreams.

*EXAMINER–COMMENTARY by Michael Levine
(Media expert and author):

Consumers are more likely to order food from healthy dining concepts when the menu font looks handwritten, and they’re also more likely to share about the experience on social media, according to an Ohio State University study. The opposite was true with menus for traditional, non-seasonal restaurants, researchers found.

*EXAMINER–COMMENTARY by Peggy Noonan:
Michael Cohen is, famously, a lowlife and screwball who’s made his living as an enforcer, liar and thug. He is going to prison essentially for these things. He has taken to implying his turning on Donald Trump is linked to an inner moral conversion, which may be true but is conveniently timed: He has nothing to lose and some form of leniency to gain.

But I found his testimony before the House Oversight and Reform Committee credible overall, and I suspect most everyone in America did, because no one, friend of the president or foe, love him or hate him, thinks Mr. Trump has a high personal character or an especially admirable back story. And that was Mr. Cohen’s subject.

*EXAMINER–COMMENTARY by David Brooks:
I often wonder who didn’t love Donald Trump. I often wonder who left an affection void that he has tried to fill by winning attention, which is not the same thing. He’s turned his life into a marketing strategy. As Michael Cohen said in his testimony, even the presidential campaign was a marketing campaign to build the Trump brand. In turning himself into a brand he’s turned himself into a human shell, so brittle and gilded that there is no place for people close to him to attach. His desperate attempts to be loved have made him unable to receive love.

Imagine what your own life would be like if you had no love in it, if you were just using people and being used. Trump, personifying the worst elements in our culture, is like a providentially sent gong meant to wake us up and direct us toward a better path. Nonetheless, his kind of life has an allure for other lonely people who also live under the illusion that you can win love and respect with bling and buzz. Michael Cohen was one of these people. He testified that in serving Donald Trump he felt he was serving a cause larger than self. Those causes were celebrity and wealth.
